Who We Are

The Blockchain Nigeria User Group (BNUG), a sub-set of Organization of Blockchain Technology User (OBTU), a duly registered incorporated Trustee with Nigeria's CAC, has been the voice of Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Technology in Nigeria since 2016. We speak for an industry that aims to touch the daily lives of Nigerians in every corner of the country — by providing business, jobs, career opportunities, and by investing in the communities we serve.

Blockchain Nigeria User Group is a not-for-profit, industry-funded association representing one of the fastest growing industries on the planet.

BNUG is a strong advocate for Blockchain Technology in Nigeria and works with all levels of government such as SEC Nigeria, NITDA, NDIC CBN and other stakeholders to support business/ employment growth and career opportunities in Blockchain Technology, in other to promote and sustain community development initiatives, enhance consumer safety and industry competitiveness. BNUG also provides its members with a full range of services and programs including education and training, benchmarking and best practices, networking, advocacy, and industry information. BNUG recently launched a #BlockchainDev1000 initiative aimed at training 1,000 blockchain developer skill-sets across Nigeria within 2 years. You can apply now for the program.

- Support Policymakers in their need to tackle their challenges in understanding blockchain, both the functionality and risks of decentralized cryptocurrency, in order to create an appropriate legal and regulatory framework that will foster the community.

Blockchain4Good Hackathon based on the IBM Hyperledger platform to be held as a side event at the Abuja Blockchain & Digital Assets Conference 2019.

The Goal

We’re seeking the best and the brightest to join us in Abuja for two-days, 04 - 05 October 2019, to work on ideas in the areas of Supply Chain, Record Keeping, Agriculture, Health Care, Digital Identity etc.

The goal of the Hackathon is to enable developers to transform their blockchain ideas, utilizing the IBM powered Hyperledger DLT platform, into reality and accelerate creative uses of blockchain technology to positively impact the way we work and live in Nigeria and across Africa. More specifically, we will be looking at the solutions that can improve governance and public sector service delivery. Blockchain opens up new opportunities to positively impact governance, public service, environment, ethical trade, fair work practices and human rights.
